In Aynu language subject and object are expressed before verb stem. Subject-marker prefix precedes object-marker prefix.

Also we have to know that in Aynu language exist parallel systems of subject markers-prefixes:

In familiar usual everyday speech they use the following system:

  1. sing.: ku=
  2. sing.: e=, a= (honorific)
  3. sing.: ø
  1. plur.: a= (incl.), ci= (excl.)
  2. plur.: eci=,a=(honorific)
  3. plur.: ø

Hero epics (yukara) display a somewhat simplified system of inflection:

1. sing.: a=

2. sing.: e=

3. sing.: ø

  1. plur.: a=
  2. plur.: eci=
  3. plur.: ø

And the religious chants (oina and kamuyyukar) display a yet different paradigm:

1. sing.: ci=

2. sing.: e=

3. sing.: ø

  1. plur.: ci
  2. plur.: eci
  3. plur.: ø

As for object markers in oina and kamuyyukar they are the following:

  1. sing.: =i=
  2. sing.: =e=
  3. sing.: ø
  1. plur.: –
  2. plur.: –
  3. plur.: ø

" – " means that I have never met markers for such persons in any folklore texts.
